Near Montpelier. Bad weather: the ceiling of a supermarket collapses

Since midday, heavy rainfall has fallen on the Montpellier metropolis. The first area affected the north of the agglomeration between Saint-Gély-du-Fesc and Montferrier-sur-Lez, which was hit by a violent stationary storm (between 150 and 200 mm in this sector), which caused in particular a flood of the Lez.

Montpelier. Major risks: the worried city is preparing for the deluge

At 1 p.m. in the town of Saint-Gély-du-Fest, the Intermarché was seriously affected. At the height of the storm, the water rose up to 1.50m on the shopping center loading dock. A false ceiling, under the weight of the water, collapsed. Fortunately, after recognition of the rescue, no casualties are to be deplored.

In Prades-le-Lez, also affected by this stationary storm, the RM 17 between the Peugeot roundabout in Montferrier-Sur-Lez and the Bisous roundabout, which had become impassable, was closed to traffic at the start of the afternoon. Two diversions have been put in place via Saint-Clément-de Rivière and Assas, which indicates the town hall of Prades.
